CycleCities Kick-Off Meeting

16. May 2012
The meeting was hosted by lead partner Municipality of Piraeus in Greece, 14th and 15th of May.

During the meeting, key elements of the project’s implementation were discussed as well as hearing presentations from the responsible partners, including what needed to be done, how and by when, the partnership agreement, the budget, communications, mapping of the data and the nomination of the steering group. Current state of the art on cycling infrastructure developments in each EU region, where partners come from was presented.

The CYCLECITIES project links partners with significant expertise in integrating cycling in the urban mobility management (London Borough of Merton, Regional Development Agency for the Region of Leipzig, The City of Gdańsk, Lisbon Municipality, National Technical University of Athens) and partners with strong commitment to invest in or integrate cycling in local and regional mobility management scheme (Municipality of Genoa, BSC Kranj, Municipality of Piraeus).

Together the project partners aim to interregional transfer of experiences, knowledge, practices, both within and beyond the partnership. Through the interregional exchanges, the partners expect to benefit from each other’s experiences and from practices implemented by third-parties.
